one of the top reasons they seem to say we're in Iraq now is to "free the Iraqi people from tyrany"... the weak, poor people that needed America's help to survive... they are uneducated because of the horrible tyrany and we need to educate them... they don't have health care and we need to give them health care...
but yet I hear many of them saying bad things about the poor and weak here in America? I've heard several times that the poor are all lazy or they don't try... and I've heard Americans in general are lazy and uneducated from a poor education system... and the reason so many lack health care is because they are lazy and won't work for it...
shouldn't they, at the very least, want to fight for the poor and weak here in America too? maybe even more so than those in Iraq?
now... I think it's great that those weak and poor in Iraq are liberated... and have health care (that we're paying for) and have a chance at education...
but what about the kids in America?

oh... and I forgot to mention that isn't all Republicans... and many do many great things to help the poor and weak in America...
but the focus of the question does seem to be a popular idea among many in the party

I think one of the faults of Republicans is they have no idea that people don't know how or where to ask for help... because no one ever told them...

its one thing to stand up for the weak, and something entirely different, when you think your own countrymen deserve their own delima, but everyone else doesn't.
most countries would consider that treason!
so will the republicans when they see that their taxes will have to be raised to support GWB's scheme of paying other countries to be "just" governments, whatever the heck that means!

Because the weak, less fortunate tend to give the Republicans a failing grade in their leadership abilities. The Republicans wish to be unaccountable for their actions, and keep raking in the big bucks for themselves, and hang the destitute out to dry.
An educated society has a much higher chance at success. Educated people are less likely to fall victim to scams, whether it is at the corporate level, or at the governmental level. The government, and corporations reap profits at astonishing rates from the uninformed. The less educated the people remain the more gullible they tend to be.
The weak, ill, young, elderly, if not covered by healthcare are expected to not survive. Therefore, there are less to care for, and the cost is less.

IMO, the Republicans do not "stand up for the weak" anywhere. The invading of Iraq is not so much "standing up for the weak" as it is a pusuit of benefits (oil, revenge) and/or a method of spreading traditionalist, Republican values. I do not suggest that the latter is a bad thing, but it is not as noble as "standing up for the weak," which would be ending genocide and poverty in places such as the worst of Africa, and tackling domestic issues, like you said, which is an area the Bush administartion has been sorely deficient.
If the invasion of Iraq was truly to liberate them and give them the things they need, America would have armies all over the world, toppling governements and establishing democracies. This is not the case, so obviously the administration has some ulterior motive in Iraq. These motives are hotly debated.
The actions of the Bush administration internationally, and the lack thereof domestically, is truely baffling.

those who get the lucky breaks try to recover by saying they were the chosen ones and then ten years down the road they start to chock on the crow they swallowed feathers and all, no one understands how everything comes back to haunt them because they made decisions and now they are just were they didn't want to be, republicans are having Christmas and happy holidays in hopes that saint Nick will soon be there

Anyone who needs help here in America can get it.
The thing is you have to want it.
Some people are so lazy that they don't even try to ask for help....then it's to late.
I think one of the faults about Republicans is they don't understand that someone could go through life and not try to better them selves. It's un-thinkable to them.
Example: I knew a girl in high school that didn't want to learn.
She said " I don't need to know this, when I'm old enough to quit high school I'm going to go on welfare! Why should I have to work, screw that!
I'm not making this up. She said that.
