Getting married.
From my experience those who smoke are usually sexually unfulfilled people. Look at how teenagers start smoking. Men and women were not made to live alone.

There is no best way to quit smoking. I quit many years ago by just throwing away the last of a pack of cigarettes. I realized how much it was affecting my health and just quit. It's going to be the same for you. It's your decision to quit. Pills won't do it. Patches won't do it. I can tell you that when I made the decision I had been meditation for a few months and I was able to make the decision with a clear head. Smoking is a social and partly physical addiction. You have to make the decision to break the habit. When you quit, you will stop getting colds easily. You can taste food again. Think of all the money you will save. You won't have smokers smell on your clothes, in your house and on your breath. You won't have to go outside when you want to take a break. No more crude jokes about having a nasty habit, from your friends. You won't have to worry about your breath when you want to kiss a non smoker. No more threat of excess risk of lung or throat cancer. When you walk upstairs you won't run out of wind. These are all good reasons for quiting. You have to find the reason for you to quit. Make it a very selfish reason. Make it a reason to live.

I weaned down to 5 a day. I took 7 puffs every 45 min. After a month, you can quit when your mentally determined, or take nicarettes to replace the puffs. It works.

Will power, (not Wills power -- Wills being a brand of cig!), and gradual exit from the addiction, will get you out! Withdrawal symptoms may some times have to be dealt with in consultation with experts, though!

cold turkey, but instead of buying smokes, spend the money on something for yourself, (not food, maybe a magazine etc). You will feel better about giving them up if you are getting something else instead.

Find a big reason to quit. The WHY is most important.
Dedicate it to someone or do it for someone else you love so that you can spend more time with them.

cold turkey worked for me. Quit 20 years ago and never looked back. It was really hard, but only by going cold turkey could I escape it.

cold turkey... if you have a hard time your doctor can give you wellbutrin and chantix... thats what I am taking and it has been almost easy... It's the 5th time I have tried to quit and it has worked wonders compared to everything else I have tried. Good luck!
