Its nearly impossible for small rodents to carry rabies. Generally it takes 10 days for the virus to incubate-by that time your hamster would be showing neurological symptoms such as paralysis. Most likely by the time the 10 days were up your hamster would be dead. If it really concerns you talk to your doctor.
Why did you need a rabies vaccine? You can go to your doctor and have your blood taken for a titer to see how much immunity you currently have.

Honey if he bit you at least 10 days ago and is still alive he didnt HAVE rabies period..
AS eveyone pointed out to have rabies he would have had to been bitten by a rabid animal and Survie long enough to develop rabies. In the unlikely event a rabied racoon made it into your house & into his cage & bit him, he would probably be in the coons stomach long before he could get rabies
Rabies is not a usual human vaccine - why did you get it?? the imuanatly can last for life but doesnt always.

Any warmblooded animal can get rabies but since your hamster has probably not been exposed to another warmblooded animal with rabies, the chances are slim and none that your hamster has rabies.
Watch that bite as it could get infected.Wash it really well with soap and water and keep anitibiotic ointment/cream on it.
My granddaughter got bit by a stray dog and since we didn't know if the dog had been exposed to rabies or not,she had to take rabies shots.
The doctor told us that the shot was good for 2yrs.

Last time I checked Hamsters do not normally get rabies. I had my debates with one hamster, but it just turned out that one was completely nuts. Unless your hamster was foaming at the mouth and acting extremely aggressive, it shouldn't have rabies. As long as you clean your wound very well you should be fine.

you would have to have a titer ran to see what the levels are in your system for rabies. it depends and varies from person to person. as for hamsters, any warm blooded mammal can have rabies, so yes. BUT....a hamster that contracted rabies would die before the virius was able to get to a contagious stage. but as a general rule small rodents such as hamsters normally to not carry rabies.

No, a domesticated hamster wouldn't have rabies, and your shot is probably still good. No worries.
