My labor was induced at 42 weeks. They will give you pitocin which will make your contractions stronger. But it doesn't necessarily mean you will have a c-section.
If your water has been broken for an extended period of time and you are still not dilating, if the baby starts to have decels and show signs of distress or if it becomes clear that the baby is not dropping into position, they will probably do a c-section. But, just being induced does not mean all of that will happen.

Wow, sex will help bring those contractions along. Also a lot of walking. My son was born 2 weeks early because I would walk the mall with my ice chips. The sex I think is what finally did it though. My contractions would get stronger and stronger every time.
If that does not help the doctor will try inducing your labor before going straight for a C-section. Hopefully you don't tense up because that stops you from dilating and the baby may stress and then you will have to have a C-section. The only thing that calmed me down was an epidural. Once I got it I went from like 4 cm to 10 cm within 20 mins!
Good luck. Hope all goes well!

That's okay, your cervix will dilate with contractions, whether the contractions start on their own or from being induced. I was only 1 cm when I went in with my first, and not at all with my second. I also had to be induced. It took 12 hours to dilate enought to get the epidural (4cm), but once I had it, it was only a couple of hours before I was pushing (I think they cranked up the pitocin dose).
They will use pitocin to start contractions and that will cause your cervix to dilate. Both my children were induced and both were born vaginally.
They will only do a C-section if there are complications.
You have a lot to learn about birth. I'd google and read as much as I can so you know what to expect. The more you know the less scary it is.

Heh, 41 weeks overdue? Maybe you're having an elephant! I assume you mean you're 41 weeks pregnant, meaning 1 week overdue. Most doctors (good ones anyway) won't just cut you open b/c you're late. Next week you'll be induced, as you said, and provided all goes well you should have a normal vaginal delivery. When labor is induced, they give you a drug called Pitocin that will help your body get moving and help your cervix become dilated.
It doesn't mean anything is wrong w/ you or your baby, other than the baby is a little stubborn ;) But hey, you wouldn't want to come out into this cold weather either, right?!

Well dear, if you are 41 weeks overdue....you have a bigger problem than worrying about a c-section! Full term gestation is 40 wks. from conception! That would put you @ the end of your second full-term pregnancy! I believe you mean you are @ 41 wks gestation, which puts you @ 1 wk. past your due date. That's no big deal w/your 1st child dear. Someone may have miscalculated. The baby will come when it's time. God has a super plan for this technique, all we are required to do is wait until it's time, have your prenatal check-ups, and listen to your "gut instinct". You'll just know if you have a problem. Enjoy every minute of your blessing. There is nothing that compares to the miracle of "growing your own little human". It's just wonderful. Please don't rush mother nature, she does things in her own time. Read a book, relax, and be patient. You'll need to develop a LOT of it over the next 18 yrs. ;-) Congrats on your pending arrival, and let us know what you have !! God Bless you always~

No, my sister was induced at 41 1/2 weeks and was only 2 cm dilated. She did not have a C-section, her baby was delivered naturally.
Keep in mind that being induced increases the intensity of contractions but does not necessarily speed up labor. Try to wait it out if you can (just my opinion based on witnessing my sister's labor and delivery 3 weeks ago).

i've heard that when you're pregnant, Especially with your first pregnancy, that you can go two weeks either way..ie 38 to 42 weeks, So i wouldn't worry too much, you've got another week to progress, Just don't get too stressed out, the baby will come when it's ready..More than likely if you get induced they will give you some medicine to make your cervix dilate, so don't be worried about a c-section yet. Just take a deep breath, everything will be okay, If you do have to have a c-section, it's really not that big of a deal, ppl do it all the time
GOOD luck!

A normal pregnancy is 40 wks...so you must mean you are 1 week overdue. There's a chance you might need a c-section if you don't dilate enough. I did...2 times! It's nothing to be afraid of, 'tho. If it's necessary, then you'll just be strong and deal w/it. The main thing is to deliver a healthy baby: the way you do it isn't important. It's the end product that matters!

I would not worry about the c section because i was 6 days overdue with my son and the doctor wasnt worried and they usually dont unless there is some factor, I wouldnt worry when you go to the hospital they will induce you with pitocin. Being 3 cent. gives you a good start, try to stay relaxed and the process will be better for you and your baby trust me!! I did it 3 times:) Good luck
