Stress does affect your child no matter what age. Babies can tell when mommy or daddy are having bad days. They take the feelings around them and act accordingly, that is why they say to stay calm when your baby is screaming because he can't calm down if you aren't. The long term affects of stress on children can lead to low self esteem and anxiety and an all around moodiness.

From my own experience I say yes, yes, yes, yes! I was 7 months pregnant when I found out my husband was cheating on me. This caused me to have a high pulse rate which was causing my son to have extremely fast heart beats. When I say fast I mean at heartattack rate. I was in the hospital for 3 weekends and then had to visit my dr every other day to get fetal monitoring. my son was 38 weeks 6 days when he was delivered by emergency c-section. his heart was too weak to handle the contractions during labour. After he was born,(healthy thank god) the dr. told me how serious stress was. I could have lost my life as well as my sons. About 7 months later i then found out some more horrid news concerning my husband. I stayed in bed for a full day. That day my son cried all day, wouldnt eat for my nanny or his grandma, all he wanted to do was cry! He noticed mom was not in her normal routine and this caused him to stress out. Also, my son was born with acid reflux, something i believe stress contributed to. So YES, YES, YES, stress affects unborn and born children. Good luck to u! if u want to talk further please email me at queen_bling22@hotmail.com
