it was to my understanding before, that with a dell computer u can only use dell products, thats a reason alot of people that want to upgrade their computers dont use dells. is this true? can i put in a dvd player that isnt from dell?

Yes, absolutely you can use any other manufacturers hardware with a Dell.

If I recall correctly, Compaq was the last PC company to stop using proprietary hardware, and they stopped this around 1997.

Just make sure you ahve the correct OS and ports on your PC and you;re all set.

No problem. Make sure you set the jumper to the desired position prior to install. I put one from an emachine in a new dell yesterday.

No, there is not any clever thank you to try this. What do you opt directly to do - watch DVD video clips on your computer? if so, then purchase a DVD tension to your computer (they are VERY decrease priced) and installation participant application which includes VLC participant. in case you opt directly to repeat video clips for playback on different instruments then installation the DVD tension as above, and use ripping application which includes DVDFab Decrypter.

yah u can use non-dell items, but if u got warrently ask them first. cuz sometime the warrenty will expire.
