I have one and I love it. There's nothing to worry about, no pills to take everyday, no hormones, and no side effects. It's very safe, doesn't hurt, and needs little/no maintenance. I've used an IUD for almost ten years with no problems at all.

I had a non hormonal copper IUD for about three years. I just had it taken out because it was causing intense cramping and long heavy periods. I can't believe I actually put up with it for that long! I was taking 8 advil a day on bad days. Anyway, it worked, I never got pregnant, but I got sick of the pain. I cannot take hormonal birth control because I have issues with depression. When I met my current partner he offered to wear condoms so I could have it removed (my previous partner would not hear of it). What a gentleman! So, I'm much happier now, and I'm at the point in my life when an unplanned pregnancy wouldn't bother me, so there you go.
By the way, I have never had children, so that may be why it hurt me so bad.

I had one, supposed to be oh so perfect. I stood it as long as possible, then went back to have it taken out. It hurt like crazy when they took it out. Did not work for me. I thought I had found the best thing.
