So, alot of pepole say that rap is not music. If someone were to talk about rock or pop you would get mad. Yes, rappers just talk through the whole song but what about rock? THAT IS NOT SINGING EITHER. { some rock does} Half of you guys that hate rap love the music that bassicly crushes my ears and cant even hear what they are saying. Difine music. What is music? Isn't music a form of art that comes from deep within? Another thing i wanted to address was in a rock song or country song they say the exact same things as rap but in differnt words. Here are some examples.

- "And you're lookin' right, lookin' good, lookin' like a woman should / So why is it so hard to find /A place to lay your pretty little head down once in a while"

Its ok for a rock artist to say " Without a doubt
Yeah, the breakup's worth the makeup sex you're giving me
lets hash it out
Cause you're bitching and your yelling don't mean anything"

but its not ok for a rap artit to say " I see you winding and grinding up on that pole
I know you see me looking at you and you already know
I wanna **** you, **** you, you already know
I wanna **** you, **** you, you already know girl

[Verse 1 - Snoop Dogg]
Money in the air as more fell grad you by your coat tail
Take you to the motel, ho sale, don't tell, won't tell
Baby said I don't talk Dogg but she told on me, oh well
Take a picture with me, what the flick gon' do

in the 20th century, music was defined to be "every sound that human made by purpose with a concept".
That's mean even a sound of a broken glass could be categorized as music if it was by purpose and with a concept.
While a sound of a piano/any other musical instruments if were sounded but not by purpose and/or without concept, it's not music.

While about the Rap, Rock, and eny genre of music, when someone state that it's a good music or bad, or even not a music at all, you must first see if this person qualified enough to make such judgement, if they don't, then they're nothing but a bullshit...
and any statements that they made is only based on their taste - wich mean based on their experience.

# History

Did you know that music - and all kind of art, at the beginning was a tool of worship, it was created when one is trying to worship the God, when they made sounds it became music; when they move it became dance; when they in trance it became theater; when they draw, carve, paint, etc it became the tectile arts. There's no other purpose at the beginning.
Even the Word 'Art', in Sanseketanian is 'Seni/Sani' wich literally means Worship.

As time goes and human get developed, so do music in it's purpose. Music was then used as a educational tool, music for teaching a sory/lore of ancient heroes, teach about good and evil, teach etics, etc.

Then music was used as entertainment.

Then as prestige class devider.

In this days, music was used to criticize, that's became Rap music.

and as time goes, there's more purpose of music and arts.

Well, one thing, every music has it own purpose wether you like it or not, every kind of music have it's own fans and haters...

So, just hangin' there, don't bother to listen to those hypocrate that talk so much as if they know everything.

Hope this help
Bless You

alot of the people dont like rap cause they dont understand it,all they hear is someone cussing and saying words that dont make sense to them or they cant relate. i mean if someones rapping about gang violence and you live in a neighborhood where there was no such thing as gang violence you not gonna have the slightest idea of what they talkin about. samething goes for me and rock when i listen to rock i hear a white boy screaming, but then i talk to people about the same song and their like that song tells my life story. So basically they hating on rap just cause they dont get it even though that dont give them the right to bash on it.

I think that music is a very deep thing. Many people don't like rap because it is very sexist and drug related. I don't listen to it because I get sick of the "I'm gonna slap my hoes". But I don't think it is wrong to listen to it, if that is the music u prefer. I think that rap is the best kind of music to dance to, but like I said, who is anyone to judge what really is music? People may not agree with the message it sometimes sends, but rap is music, just a type that happens to use flowing to express ideas.
*Just to let u know, yes , I listen to heavy metal and screamo music, and my parents(and u) hate it!LOL, but hey it relaxes me, and helps me to get my anger out, so I consider it music. Whats the old saying, the one about one mans trash being anothers treasure?

Music is just a form of art, one that everyone knows and can relate to. Music is THE world wide language. No matter the langauge, a song that has a quick, uppity (Is that a real word?) beat, people recognize as being happy. A song that is slower, people relate it to be sadder.

music is what today is all about. i cant live without it. honestly it shouldnt matter what genre you prefer, if you dig it listen to it, if you dont...well then dont listen to it. who cares what everyone else thinks. and yes, every type of music will always have similarities in their lyrics, theyre just sung differently. that way everyone can be happy. i love music of all kinds. im very open minded about music, as should everyone, but that'll never happen. enjoy what you like and screw what everyone else thinks.
