The more you make out of it, the worse it gets. If you have a characteristic that is typically associated with the other gender: deep or high pitched voiced, tall and built stronger, short and slender, long hair or cropped hair, etc, then it will happen all the time. Laugh it off. It's not worth getting upset about. Why embarrass the other person more.

Works the other way too! I have short hair and have sales clerks say things like "Thank you sir." I just laugh and say thats ok. Believe me with the chest that I have, plus the fact that I dress casually, but I wear "girl" clothes I think they just see short hair and the fact that I am tall and "assume" I am a guy. I am not a "butch" kinda girl and actually am bi with two kids that I gave birth to so I am pretty secure in my gender identity. Just laugh it off, they are the ones who end up with the red face. To me it is just not a big deal I guess.

To J.
TO answer this question one has to ask another of you. Do you look like a girl? If the answer is yes, you should have played along. There is a zillion folks out here that would kill to be mistaken for a girl. On the one hand i am jealous, i would love to be a girl, but cant. I can take your body, if you dont want it. To be just a little resemblance to a girl would make my heart happier.
Send me a email. We can chat.

Not really. There are times that I dress all butch and I get "sir" all the time. I don't mind it, nor do I correct them. Sometimes some get really apologetic, I just smile at them and say "it's okay, I get it a lot." I don't think it's embarrasing, except if you think looking like the opposite sex is an insult.

It happens to my girlfriend all the time. We'll be paying for something and the cashier will say "Here's your change, sir." Sometimes they don't even realize their mistake. I can't believe it. We just laugh about it. It's the way she dresses and has her hair cut very short. It hides her femininity. I think you should just smile and take it as a compliment.

I would think that you are a femanate and take it as a persons first responce to you, and their judgement consening you phisical apperiance, so ask your self am i trans gendered or anglic , /do I resemble a female, and what did he see that he would say that? and if you were bothered by this statement .what to do to change your orra, to make your self more maskalan/manly, you must have nice hair?and botox.smile and take it as a comliment men dont get meany, she male, is a possibilaty? you know .

Yeah, well, once I was in a crowd of people waiting to get in to the Oakland Colosseum to see JOURNEY, and I said to the obviously pregnant woman next to me, "when's your baby due?".
Then she said, "I'm not pregnant". I can't remember being that embarrassed since silly childhood times.

If I were a guy... I would've ran home, got into my closet and thrown all my clothes out to make room for less feminine gear. Then, hit Supercuts!
