there are hardware keyloggers and software keyloggers. hardware ones are easy: just look at the back of the computer where the keyboard plugs into the case. if there is a little piece (like a little box) between your keyboard cable and the computer, that is the keylogger. just unplug it and plug your keyboard directly into the computer.

software keyloggers are harder to find, but most of them can be spotted by Norton AntiVirus or Webroot SpySweeper.

if someone installed a keylogger on your computer and didn't want you to find it, then they probably also changed the settings on any antivirus software you have to ignore that particular program. go into your anti-virus or anti-spyware program, open the settings, and find if any programs have been set to "exclude" or "ignore" while it performs system scans.

do i sound like i have a little experience in this area? it's because i do ;)

A keylogger is still a program that stays in the memory (RAM), the best way to know is right click on your taskbar - Task Manager - Processes - and checklist Show processes from all users.

There you can find all programs that run in your memory, if you find a suspicion one, then you can kill it.
It only enables you to know the problem, to get rid of them you still need antispyware program, like AVG.

Get a keylogger detector!

This looks like one of the best free ones.

If it alerts you that something's trying to log your keystrokes, then you should still figure out what's doing it and confirm that it is indeed a keylogger before you jump to conclusions. I have ZoneAlarm Security, and it often tells me that AOL instant messenger "may be trying to record my keystrokes" when in actuality it's not a "keylogger".

The keylogger box davedave01 mentioned is now being built into most major computer hardware company's keyboards. You may have to remove the panels from your keyboard and remove the box, and prabably need to re-soder it toghether.
