need usb somehow thru a serial cable or keyboard or some connection

You can use a PS2 Male to USB Female Adapter. Then you can have 1 usb port.

you can get a PCMCIA card for your laptop with USB slots on it, any good pc shop will stock them, it simply slides into the PCMCIA slot on the side of the laptop
