Do you believe man has actually been to the moon?

Why or why not? I don't believe we ever have. With all of the new technology why haven't we been back there. I think it was a huge hoax!

2) Why haven't we been back?

a) American astronauts visited the moon on six occasions.

b) The "moon race" was an extension of the cold war. It was mostly about national prestige. We got there first and achieved our primary objective. There was some good science: surveys, measurements, sample collection. But it was mostly about being there first. Once we achieved our primary objective, there was no political will to go back. There still isn't. Perhaps, if we discover He3 or something else valuable, there will be.

c) I used to travel to Crested Butte, Colorado every year to ski. Because I don't go anymore, does it mean that I never went?


3) What about the Van Allen radiation belts? Wouldn't it have killed the astronauts?

The existence of the Van Allen radiation belts postulated in the 1940s by Nicholas Christofilos. Their existence was confirmed in *1958* by the Explorer I satellite launched by the USA.

The radiation in the Van Allen radiation belts is not particularly strong. You would have to hang out there for a week or so in order to get radiation sickness. And, because the radiation is not particularly strong, a few millimeters of metal is all that is required for protection. "An object satellite shielded by 3 mm of aluminum will receive about 2500 rem (25 Sv) per *year*."

"In practice, Apollo astronauts who travelled to the moon spent very little time in the belts and received a harmless dose. [6]. Nevertheless NASA deliberately timed Apollo launches, and used lunar transfer orbits that only skirted the edge of the belt over the equator to minimise the radiation." When the astronauts returned to Earth, their dosimeters showed that they had received about as much radiation as a couple of medical X-rays.


4) The U.S. government scammed everyone?

In 1972, there was a politically motivated burglary of a hotel room in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. There were only about six or eight people who knew about it. However, those people, including Richard M. Nixon, the President of the United States, failed to keep that burglary a secret. It exploded into a scandal that drove the President and a number of others from office.

If six or eight people couldn't keep a hotel room burglary a secret, then how could literally thousands of people could have kept their mouths shut about six faked moon landings? Not just one moon landing, but six of them!


5) What about the USSR?

Even if NASA and other government agencies could have faked the six moon landings well enough to fool the general public, they could NOT have fooled the space agency or military intelligence types in the USSR. The Soviets were just dying to beat us. If the landings were faked, the Soviets would have re-engineered their N-1 booster and landed on the moon just to prove what liars Americans are. Why didn't they? Because the landings were real and the Soviets knew it.

7) Finally, please tell us what you would accept as definitive evidence that the six moon landings were real. Is there anything?

Get this straight and don't be foolish about it any more, okay? The basic technology required for a manned flight to the moon was developed in Germany in the late 1930s through the mid 1940s. This technology needed a lot of refinement to make a safe manned flight a reality.

We worked on that technology through the 1950s and 60s, and made the first manned moon flight in 1969. It all fits together, and if you read all the history and don't let the wackos lie to you, it will be impossible for you to continue to be fooled into believing that the moon missions did not take place.

The American people were much better educated and more intelligent in the 1960s and 70s than they are now, and it would never have occurred to NASA engineers and managers that 35 years later a bunch of ignorant dolts with nothing to do would come up with a stupid conspiracy theory stating that the moon landings were faked.

If that had occurred to them, I suspect the engineers would have gone to the trouble to create a larger and more visible object of proof, to compensate for the decline in the quality of the American mind and its education that occurred during and after the Reagan presidency.

But there is a real physical proof available. The astronauts who landed on the moon left behind reflectors that are used every day by astronomers to measure the irregularities of the moon's orbit. This is done by bouncing laser beams off reflectors at known locations that were left by the astronauts. Ask your science teacher for information about these experiments. You can arrange to see this done with your own eyes.

Let me put the question to you this way: If you think the moon landings were faked, when did they become "fake?" When did the idea become popular that NASA had invented the idea of an imaginary moon mission and created a huge technological empire to fool people? When was all this fakery done? In the 60s? 70s? 80s?

And why? What was the point? And how did they fool all the people that reported the news, operated the machinery, built the moon rockets, and watched them take off and land?

Do you realize that one American in 500 was a part of the Apollo program? Millions of them are still alive. Are they fooling you? Why? If you go out to a football game, look around you. In the stadium there are people who worked on the Apollo program.

Ask around. You are surrounded by people who know for sure that American astronauts stood on the moon more than 35 years ago.

Yes we were there. The moon rocks prove it beyond a doubt. The reasons that we have not been back are; It takes a tremendous amount of money to build and retrieve the space craft involved. It is tremendously dangerous. Our politicians do not give a damn whether or not we go back.
Updating the technology is expensive.

The main reason that we are now interested in going back is to raise the moral of this nation. It is also a good launching point for future space exploration. But, the main reason is the bad moral of America. We need something to bring us all together again. And to show the world that we still have what it takes to get the job done.

Besides all of that, the moon is an ideal place to launch a nuclear strike against any other nation in the world. Just think about it. If we get hit first, we still will have the untainted weapons to hit back at our will. And the observation post to see who to hit! (This all conjecture on my part, but it makes perfect sense.) Would you strike first knowing that you will be totally obliterated after wards?
Even the Iranian government officials are not that stupid!

I say we need to go for it! For all of these reasons.

My mother and aunt as well as many elderly folks also did not beleive we ever went to the moon. Their thoughts was that the moon belonged ot god and if he wanted us there we would have been born there:).
Of course Americans have been to the moon. Even the media in later years try as they might could not prove otherwise.
The early moon trips was a fore runner for future trips, and also an answer to the russian space flights. At the time there was no profit in futher moon exploration but now with china, and india and rpivate interprize getting into space the interest is renewed.
The moon, other moons orbiting other planets, and astroids as well as metors offer humans a huge supply of much needed minerals, water, and gases as well as future living space.

Don't worry it is natural for successful people to be disbelived.

Why everything good the most successful nation on earth, in history does is hated or doubted so much is the real mystery.

I think we have... why if we have already been there would we waste our time going back when we could be exploring other planets and things?? They have video and recordings of Neil Armstrong on the moon. I think it was real. Plus why would people even want to make up a hoax about that... what's the point?

That's right, guys. Somehow the same group of folks that did such a great job covering up the Watergate scandal ten years later managed to pull off a hoax involving literally thousands of people, none of whom ever talked.

Oh it happened. But there was no reason to ever go back. Once we got there the space program had no plan for the future. They did it with 1960's technology so we could go back if there was a reason but there is no reason to go back.

We did go on the moon. Why wouldn't we? NASA stopped the missions because they were expensive and there was no purpose to go back. We are however going back in a couple of years.

If you watch the specials on TV that say we've never been there, they are pretty convincing. However, why would the government want to make that up anyway?

I agree that it's strange that we haven't been back there after all of these years. You'd almost think that people would be living there by now!
