Talk to your bank manager about this situation.contact the Alzheimer's association in your district or town and explain your problems to them ,Or the geriatric dept. in the hospital, don't you have other family members that can help you with your Uncle. All the Best to You, don't get discouraged, it is hard to see someone you have known all your live, but don't forget he is not the same person anymore,so don't let that depress you. Have a nice season.

You cannot deposit his checks into your account, no way, no how. What you can do is deposit his checks into his account, write the checks for the bills, and have him sign the checks. Once he leaves the hospital, you can take him to the bank where he can make you a co-signer on his checking account, and then you can sign the checks yourself. There should be a patient advocate or social worker at the hospital he is in who can help you with things like this. My mom actually does this for a living at a local hospital. Every hospital calls it something different, but in any event, there are people who can help you. Good luck.

You'll need an endorsement (written) which the bank will accept to operate the account. Check with them about what form of endorsement is acceptable, and from whom.

Was the payee written out to 'Cash'? My understanding is that if you want the person depositing the cheque to be able to collect the cash straight away, the payee needs to be Cash. Otherwise, he could just make the payee you, and then you could deposit it into your own bank account and then withdraw it.
