How do I convince my dad to bring my rabbit to the vet to get spayed? I have read about all of the benefits of spaying rabbits, and I want to do it to my 6 month old rabbit. I have enough money, $300, to pay for it, but my dad still won't let me! I told him all the benefits of spaying my rabbit (longer life span, less territorial, nicer, less false pregnancies, reducing risk of cancer, etc), and I told him I have all the money to do it!

But he still won't let me! I have my own money to do it too! But he still says "TOO MUCH MONEY TOO MUCH MONEY! It's a waste of money! I don't care if you have the moeny. Don't waste your money on unneccesary things." EVEN THOUGH IT IS NECCESSARY! So how do I convince my dad to bring my rabbit to the vet to spay it?

To the other answerer: $300 is not unreasonable to spay a rabbit. That's pretty standard for our area as well.

Write up a contract for your dad and ask him to sign it if he won't take you. Spell out in it that since he will not allow you to have your rabbit spayed, that he is willing to pay for an emergency spay when she develops uterine cancer (80% chance).

It sounds like you're handling this very responsibly. The one thing I'd suggest is to check with other vets in the area, and the local Humane Society as well, for a better price. I had my rabbits spayed at a top-notch local vet, who uses all the latest state-of-the-art equipment, and it still only cost just over a hundred bucks. When you tell Dad that you researched and found a better deal, that should help.

Unfortunately, he may still reject the idea. Some people view animals as disposable property and refuse to spend money on their care.

First I want to commend you for being a responsible pet owner! Wish more people could learn from you. Your dad should be proud that you are trying to be responsible to keep your bunny safe and healthy and that you have the money needed to get it done.

I don't know where abouts you live, but I wouldn't think it would cost $300.00 to spay a rabbit. Have you called around about the cost? Would your dad be more open to it if it was say only $50.00? Just tell your dad that you want to be a responsible pet owner and help your rabbit live a longer life. Rabbits that are spayed live longer and do not usually fight with other animals.

Good luck!

Explain to him the benefits of having her spayed, and do so logically and without attitude or pushing too hard. I can speak from experience that getting my female rabbit spayed made her a whole lot better of a pet. She used to bite and was a bit aggressive, now shes very laid back and sweet. They also tend to have false pregnancies and are very prone to getting reproductive problems, so it is very beneficial to the rabbit to have her spayed. I promise you it is something that is worthwhile to do, every penny spent worth it. Just approach the situation logically, explain to him the benefits that the rabbit will be healthier and live longer and that you're trying to be responsible.

I wish you good luck in the matter.

You need to lay things out logically, stating the benefits of having your rabbit spayed. Your father shouldn't object if you are using your own money for it. Besides, would he say the same thing if it were a dog or cat?
Having owned a male rabbit myself, I can tell you that the behaviours are manageable with training (rabbits are smarter than people think) and there's little risk of pregnancy if your (presumable female) rabbit is not in contact with any other rabbits.

opposite to common beliefe all rabbits do no longer nessasairly like copany however they could placed up with it..as quickly as a rabbit his 6 mos to a twelve months that's extra likly that in case you get rid of one among them and attempt to place them back to gether back they could combat expecially in the event that they're an analogous intercourse and deffinately in the event that they're the two dollars (male) i could basically save them in seprate cages and supply them toys to chew on and spend a sprint time with them each and every day and that they are going to be happy
