$484.53 before taxes. Then it depends on how many exemptions you have and how much was taken out in taxes. I took the 50 divided by 60 (50 minutes out of a total of 60) to get 0.83. Then I added that to 71. Then take 71.83 x 6.75 and that equals 484.53.

50 minutes is 5/6 part of an hour or 60 mins.
5/6 = 0.8333333.... hours
Hence total time is 71.83333.... hours.
Hourly wage is $6.75.
Using a calculator the answer is 71.83333... X 6.75 = 484.875.
If you round off 71.83333.... to 71.83, you get 71.83 X 6.75 = 484.8525.

garypopkin's answer is also helpful. lili has made a slight multiplication error, while Krzykng has counted 70 hrs 50 min instead of 71 hrs 50 min

For the greatest precision (mathematically) you're multiplying 71 & 50/60 times $6.75 which corresponds to 71.8333333333333333333333..... x $6.75 which equals
$484.875 EXACTLY.

Your employer may round off early and thus get some of the other answers you see (which more than likely would favor the payer, not the recipient); all of this illustrates why you need to be aware yourself what is valid/true from
the info provided.

Treat 71 hours, 50 minutes as 431/6 hours and multiply that by 6.75. Well, treat 6.75 as 27/4.

Notice that lili and KrazyKyng got different answers. The safest thing to do is multiply

(431/6) * (27/4)

i m sorry, my answer might seem equally dumb, but i think its the correct ans. u have not mentioned $6.75 to be hourly rate. so according to me, n reading ur Q it appears that earning rate is 6.75 when working for 71 hours n 50 min.. so if the Q appeared in some test n u have copied it down exactly then i think the ans should be $6.75 itself.

when u take 70+50/60 then times 60.75 then that's gonna be 478.12499998

70 + 50/60 =70.83333333 hours
70.83333333 * 6.75 = 478.12499998

If I were your employer your actual hours would be 72 and the wages before withholdings would be:
72 times 6.75 which equals $486.00.

6.75 X 71 = 479.25 (what you make in 71 hours)

If you make 6.75 an hour, you make 1.125 in ten minutes.

1.125 X 5 = 5.63 (what you make in 50 minutes )

479.25 + 5.63 = 484.88 (what you make working 71 hours and 50 minutes)

Just so you will understand, to get what you make in 10 minutes, you divide what you make in one hour by 6(l.125). Then multiply 1.125 by 5 to find what you make in 50 minutes(5.63). Then add this to what you make in 71 hours(479.25 + 5.63 = $484.88
