My right eyelid droops slightly. Its not major, but when i look at a picture of me I can tell that it is getting in the way of my eye fully opening, so my left eye looks more wide open. It especially gets in the way when i smile or open my eyes really wide. I'm only 20 years old should this be happening to me? What should I do?

Eyelid surgery is pretty common these days. You should do it. I've have one eyelid lower than the other and look terrible in pictures. I'm 59 now so its a waste of money for me but I'm guessing you are young so go for it.

This could be a sign of hydrocephalus (sp?) in which some brain swelling causes pressure on the optic nerve. That is very serious. Do NOT take any other advice from anyone here other than to see your doctor or a neurologist as soon as possible. No one here, even if being a medical expert, could give you a diagnosis cyber-style.

My youngest son had that 7 years ago this month and he had strokes, seizures and suffered permanent brain damage and partial paralysis as a result of it. He was 16 months old at the time and perfectly healthy... now he is a special needs child. He had been in the hospital over a weekend for observation and was caually diagnosed with viral meningitis which later turned out to be fungal meningitis caused bi Valley Fever, the most deadly form... usally fatal at the stage he was at - it was miraculous he even lived through the week. I even mentioned that one eye drooping to the hospital discharge nurse and she said "he's probably just tired." Yeah, right. The very next day after he came home, he was lifeless and taken to a childrens' hospital for yet another diagnosis, where he was immediately put into critical care, put on life support and we were told he had less than 50% chance of durvivng that night - he stayed that way for weeks and was hospitalized for over two months. Never 'settle' for a run of the mill diagnosis if you don't feel right about it in your gut... we did... and he suffered for our complacency.

yea, high change its "lazy eye", yes thats really what its called...i had it when i was younger and so did my friend, but i got rid of mine by wearing an eyepatch over my good eye for 2 hours a day for less than a year...but my friend had her eyelid surgically fixed, and worked just as well.

symptom of stroke.

Is this condition new?

Accompanied by weakness on one side, slurred speech?

Okay, its probably NOT a stroke. (you'd already be dead!)
(But if it is, call a doctor... and be quick about it!)

Maybe you could ask if a botox treatment would help paralyze the muscles and prevent the droop.

Has it always drooped? Maybe you should go see a doctor to make sure you don't have anything wrong with you.

Is it affecting your vision? You should see your doctor, you need to be referred to an occuloplastic surgeon to address this problem, which may be covered by insurance if it affects your vision. HTH : )

You may have mechanical ptosis. Nobody has a perfectly symmetrical face/body.

go see your doctor... it probably has something to do with one of your nerves... drooping can mean many things.. get it checked out just to be sure it's nothing serious
