If you play a 33rpm record in a 78 rpm record player what will happen? Will it play it too slowly/quickly? will it play at all?

If you play a 33 at 78 it would be going more than twice as fast. If you really have a 78rpm record player as opposed to an adjustable speed turn table you would be using a very poor quality needle and might damage your vinyl recording. These real old school needles were made of steel where newer models are typically diamond.

33rpm = 33 revs per minute
78rpm = 78 revs per minute

It'd sound like the freakin' chipmunks.

sure it will. all records will play on record players. there is an option, if you find it plays to fast you can change the setting.
