and if its because of his size, why did he get drafted as a running back, i mean we all know how hard it is nowadys to run outside the tackle in the nfl in todays game..i think he should be a receiver, most reception in the nfl? i think hed be electrifying as a receiver, hed break 50 yrd runs every game..

He only carried the ball 10-15 times a game in college, so he never really took the kinds of hits that make a runner tough enough to handle running between the tackles.

Reggie Bush is a finesse type back. He uses his agility and speed to get by guys. He has some power, but not enough to be consistently successful going between the tackles. He can't go up the middle and run through guys like Larry Johnson or Corey Dillon, but if a whole is there though, he could break it for a huge gain. Also, I do agree that he would be a great receiver, but as a running back, he is a threat to run the ball or run a route out of the backfield. He is to good of a running back to convert to receiver.

He's a speed/finesse runner, a la Marshal Faulk or Barry Sanders, not a power runner like Jerome Bettis or Larry Johnson. He relies primarily on his ability to avoid defenders, make them miss, fake them out, or make them whiff. A good between-the-tackle runner must rely on his ability to break tackles and absorb direct hits, something Bush is not built to do.

Coach Payton is wise to keep him as an RB and not a receiver. The Saints already have a ridiculous receiving corps, and having Bush in the backfield with Deuce forces defenses to account for both threats.

It's not because of his size. hes actually pretty strong for his size. People dont realize that reggie was never that good running between the tackles. If you look at his SC film then you will realize that most of his carries were counters, tosses and off tackles to get him in space. Lendale was the one they used between the tackles. Everyone is starting to see why i have always said that he was overrated. Also, outside of the rose bowl, he didnt play a run defense rated higher that 50th. Combine that will all the weapons he had and his offensive line, you get a heisman trophy winner who shouldnt have won it.

Not strong enough. Wait till the real deal Darren McFadden hits the NFL. He has the speed of Bush and is over 6 ft and 220 lbs.

He doesn't run between the tackles he runs over them then is too fast for the cornerbacks to catch.

reggie bush's skill set are something that the nfl has really never seen to the extent that reggie possesses. sean payton realizes this and has created a new position for reggie. dump off passes to reggie to get him into the open field are simply the best ways to use his skills at this point. give him time on running between the tackles. It is possibly the biggest difference between college and pro football (especially given bush's dominating O-line at USC in the Pac-10).

Because Reggie is not a power runner. Hes not built like Jerome Bettis was where he can power his way through tackles. Reggie relies on his speed to get to the outside to gain better yardage

Because he is relatively small for a running back, just like any other speed back hes built for speed not to take a beating, that makes him more effective on the edge where he can avoid tackles rather than between the tackles where he must be able to break tackles

because he is a speed running back his kinda backs are the ones that try to sqeese through holes and make big plays that is the reason he was drafted 3 overall and not first

backs like tomilnson, edjerrin james, and shaun alexander can run betwwen tackles and through holes and make big play doing them

Hes too fast he goes ahead of his blockers but will learn in the future to slow down at first and when you see a hole you hit with that blazing speed he has.
