I love this type of book. My favorite author is Dean Koontz (especially his Odd Thomas series--I am getting Brother Odd for Christmas!). But I have read almost all of his book and am looking for some new books/authors to read now that I am finally done with college and have some time.

Thanks!

Try "Wither" by J G Passarella. There's a sequel to it as well and, if I'm not mistaken, even a third book, though it's not going to be, nor was intended to be, a series. It's about a college-age Wiccan girl who discovers that a terrible creature that was once a Salem-era witch in her small, sleepy town, is coming back into power. There are actually several sub-plots that work their way together for a fantastic finale.

I just remember being riveted by the book and having that awful but delicious feeling when you read good supernatural stuff alone at night- the way you know you're being silly but start looking around behind you, feeling like you're being watched . . . silly stuff, but shows the good quality of the writing.

Oh, and here's someone I almost forgot: Graham Joyce. His novels are so brilliantly dark and atmospheric that you can get lost in them, but they're well written. I haven't found another author who can get under my skin as well with mystery and evocative darkness. Try "Indigo", "The Tooth Fairy", or "Dark Sister" to start.

Hope you enjoy your free time, whatever you decide to read!

I like Dean Koontz too.
A book I really enjoyed was The Dancing Floor ~Barbara Michaels

"Bestselling author Barbara Michaels places American tourist Heather Tradescant on a research tour of English gardens after the untimely death of her dear father. The maze and gardens at Troytan House hold a strange fascination for Tradescant as she trespasses onto the estate. Witchcraft, mystery and love complicate her visit and transform her forever. B.J.P. May i suggest the books (they are four in a series) by Laura Faria Stolarz called Blue uis for Nightmares, White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, and Red is for Rememberance. They are basilcaly about this girl who is in boarding school and she starts having nightmares about different people that predict her future. In all the books at least i think, she has nightmares. She uses spells pased on by many generations before her. I'm still not finished reading the third book but they are very intriguing.

Insomnia by Stephen King. I almost had insomnia from reading it too because I had a hard time putting the book down once I started reading it. ;-)
