about a sort of grown-up red riding hood and a wicked werewolf.. can someone explain what happened in the end?

Didn't she become a wolf? At the very end there was a wolf with a red cape on that ran off into the woods.

I haven't seen it, but the movie poster gave me nightmares when I was a kid..
