well as long as your stage fright then dont be afraid to look at them. onetime when a girl was singing she would stop and sing right into the person's face. the whole audience found her hysterical and loved it. however if you are stage fright then i suggest doing something more subtle by just out into the darkness of the audience.. the good thing about performing nights are that you can usually barley see the audience so it helps ALOT. plus they are there to see the play so dont get embarressed

I assume you mean 'off' the audience----focus on an active goal you are trying to accomplish. If you are distracted by the audience, it might be because you are not active enough.

Ask yourself what it is you are trying to get in the scene & then go after it!

Focus on your partner and the scene will be compelling and the audience will watch.

Anyone on the stage, having the position to see the panoramic view of the audience, any unusual movement is observed . It depends on you to practice concentration for your scene which needs discipline.
