The term you are looking for is socialism, although different people define socialism in many different ways.

No country has ever claimed to have a "communist" government. Rather, we had the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" and the "People's Republic of China."

Marx did not predict that "communism" wold come about immediately, but that it was a process that would take many years to achieve.
