"Backorder is a distribution term that refers to the status of items on a purchase order in the event that some or all of the inventory required to fulfill the order is out of stock. This differs from a forward order where stock is available but delivery is postponed for another reason.
"Different computer systems will handle back orders in different ways. Typically received stock is allocated first to back orders. These orders are then available to be fulfilled in the normal way."

Sure, generally. You order it now so that you will be in the store's queue already: once the store receives their orders, they let you know or will reserve it for you so long as you collaborate or negotiate -- in other words, each store has its own policy as regards backorders. So communicate, that's all...
But then, as regards store polciy, you have your own policy, too, yes? So that's why and the way you will dare to order amid a backorder...
All it means is that the store is out presently, and they have to order a new stock for sale...
Don't be timid. Own it ! See?

It depends...sometimes they tell you something is on "backorder" when really...it's just out.
If you ever DO order something "on backorder"...make sure you get a fully descriptive receipt...

If you already paid it, this back order will be delivered to you. And of course you can still order it, the reason why they wrote back order is to let the customer know that they are still ordering the product, and they were out of stock at the moment.

Yes you can order it, what back ordered means it is on the store's order, but they just have not received it yet.
If you were hoping to get it before Christmas, the odds are slim to none, I would say.

You can order it but you will have to wait till they get it back in stock. You like waiting for an indeterminable time? Check other places, someone else may have it in stock.

Yes, but you will have to wait until it gets in the store for it to be shipped to you. like at the library when you reserve a book and it says something like...u are #1 on the waiting list...that is sort of like that. you just have to wait until it gets in the store for it to be shipped. hope this helped

Yes, this just means that they don't have any left, but they ARE getting more. Sometimes it will even say when the item will be back in stock.
