I'm not looking for a psychological or spiritual answer to my question. As far as I can tell there is a lot of evidence to support the big bang theory. So much so that I as of right now believe it to be a given fact based on how the elements on the periodic table are arranged as well as cosmic radiation. What happened to cause the big bang? Are there any scientific theories out there? Can something be created from nothing? How can anything exist in the first place if the universe was a void? Logically I come up with the answer that atoms and matter can not be created from nothing. Using scientific understanding shouldn't this universe be just a void of nothingness?

Good question. I think the big bang was an explosion, caused by a build up of energy. The universe wasn't completely void before this, there was matter and energy to begin with and something exploded and eventually the elements as we know them were formed. I believe I read that new elements were formed inside stars? According to the law of conservation of matter, matter cannot be created or destroyed, it is instead redistributed. So there has always been something and there always will, it just might not include humans.

neither the big bang theory nor god is working for me. i don't understand how people can just accept that god has always been there. everything has to come from something. the big bang theory is just a theory, there are other ones out there. but yeah, we fall into the same problem? where did it [matter]originate from?
even if we were able to find the answers to these questions, would we want to know anyways? can you imagine how big a shock that will be to everyone? you would be changing people's core beliefs, the way that they view life, their whole being.
when it comes to trying to figure out the universe, i prefer not to think about it. the whole idea that we don't know where we come from is quite overwhelming and simply, just scary to think about. instead of dwelling on our existence, we should focus our attention on improving the world that we live in and putting more research in space exploration and colonization.
we are wasting resources at an alarming rate and our population is growing exponentially every day that goes by. soon, our earth will pass it's carrying capacity and it will be unable to sustain life anymore.
The sun is not going to explode anytime soon,(in some billion years yeah it will), so we'll have enough time to increase our scientific knowledge about space and improve technology to the point where we can travel to other planets and galaxies and start anew.

life isn't really as amazing as people think it is.
It only seems like-it because of the complexity of it.
Most of the simple life-forms are more like machines doing simple task's.
We are just a more complex machine.

I also heard of an experiment done with a sterile container.
They put hydrogen and oxygen in the container.
They turned it into water.
After awhile they examined the water and there were simple microscopic life forms in it.
Now I'm sure they did the experiment right, so how did the life forms get in there?

All scientists know that spontanious generation (things coming from nothing) doesn't exist. But that is what the Big Bang theory is based on.

It is difficult to imagine how something sprang up after time zero.
We seem to be faced with the fact of existence.
How it started may be something that is completely unknowable.
Basically we seem to be the product of a quantum universe that we cam merely speculate about!

That is so true, Where the hell did anything come from, I'm not religious, but even the whole bible thing is impossible, because there would be no "god" in the place to begin with. -.- It is hard to think of why we are here and why life was made.
