Please clearify a sincere answer in terms of chemical formula, calorific value and other chemical and thermal properties. (LPG is used as cooking gas and CNG is used in automobiles in India.)

LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) basically contains butane, a saturated haydrocarbon, 4th member of the alkane family, with formula C4H10. It might also contain other gases as per requirement.
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is basically methane, a saturated haydrocarbon, 1st member of the alkane family, with formula CH4. It might also contain other gases as per requirement.

CNG may not be compressed enough to liquify. LPG is.
