Dryer lint work well as a fire starter. Put a lighter or match to it.
Think about how many house fires are caused by built up dryer lint each year. This is a good way to use all of the dryer lint that you clean out of the lint trap.

What's with all the know-nothing clowns??
If you want to start a fire in a fireplace or woodstove:
Place two good sized logs parallel with a space between them about the size of the logs.
Crumple LOTS of newspaper loosely and stuff between the logs, not tight.
Put several pieces of dry kindling on top of the newspaper
Crumple up another piece or two of newspaper & put it on top of the kindling
Put a smaller log than the first two angled across the top
Put a lighted match to the bottom layer of newspaper.
It should start and go - watch for the top log to drop down as the kindling burns away, or help it fall between the first two logs, then put another log across above it.
A fire is an artful mixture of fuel, air and heat. This method uses one match and no blowing, works every time, and it's how I've heated my house for the last 15 years.
good luck.

no matter the heat medium, basic fire starting is the same. Start small and build big. Begin with small pieces of burning material, get them going to sustain a blaze and add small bits of wood until the flame is hot and add larger pieces of wood.

Boom or no boom?
No Boom: use a lighter.
Boom: two pie pans, drano, wax paper, gas.
1. Pour the gas into one pie pan and then the drano crystals into the other.
2. cover the gas pan with wax paper and tape it well. Then do the same with the drano side.
3 put the pans together facing each other but keep the drano side up.
4. turn it over and leave. (might wanna hurry)

It depends. They have water/windproff matches out there. If you are out in the wild, I personaly believe that matches are the best
