Yes, Hollywood is out of original ideas. They'll keep making all these bad movies until people stop paying to see them.

Seems like it. Forrest Gump was the last successful original idea that I can think of. The book adaptation route seem good until you think about how bad "The Da Vinci Code" was as a movie when the book was great (and I like Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, but they missed with that one). Angels and Demons would be even better with a great and easier to follow story line.
Even the acting has suffered lately. It seems like it is all about looking good regardless of whether anyone can really act (both male and female).

Yes it would seem that way. But I think the bigger question is this. Why pay more money to create a new never before seen movie, when you can rehash the same old story lines a hundred times and people still pay to see it?
For something new try foriegn or art films. They seem to always have new ideas.

Several of those movies are remakes of remakes. Hollywood was never really original. But it seems to be really noticeable lately. They should do more movies based on books(or comic books)

part of it has to do with the subject, and ridiculous cost of advertising a characteristic movie. Now, i do no longer *agree* with it, yet i comprehend it. as an occasion: Donnie Darko, an remarkable movie, failed on the container place of work by using fact it replaced into puzzling to marketplace(in case you have seen it, attempt to describe it, even the factor of it, to somebody who's in no way heard of it in 30 seconds and have it make experience. appropriate. good luck with that!) on the different hand, if i take a much greater nicely-known sources, say...oh, i do no longer understand...The Dukes Of Hazzard. You already, on your suggestions's eye, see Daisy's shorts and the final Lee, hear blarin' bars of Dixie....., now, all i in my opinion choose for to tell you is *while*. by using fact it may cost 40-one hundred+ million money just to sell a movie, over and above in basic terms approximately 3 hundred to offer(and because studios are making greater money on advertising DVDs now, a theatrical commercial *is* a DVD commercial besides)they're attempting to apply the fragment of interest they could pass PRODUCT, and the least puzzling thank you to try this, is familiarity, nostalgia, however...

Remakes are easy as the script is there.
HOWEVER, if you go to a place like zoetrope.com or netfilm.com, you can see some fabulous scripts that are ignored becuase the writers don;t have an agent.
What a shame!

it certainly seem like they're running out of original ideas sometimes, especially with all the remakes, or book interpretation, or biopics out there.
also i find they spend way too much effort on special effects and not enough on plot and character development. but hey, that just my opinion...
