is it possible for people to get cervical cancer if they have Not had sex? I always hear it advertised that every female who has had sex should have a papsmear at least every 2 years. Why is it not necessary for females who have not had sex to have a papsmear?, can't they get cervical cancer as well?

You can get cervical cancer without having had sex. Nuns get cervical cancer. Sex, however, does expose you to HPV, the human papilloma virus, which is by far the biggest risk factor for developing cancer later.

If you are a virgin, you probably don't need to go in for a pap smear as early or frequently as a sexually active woman, but you should still get pelvic exams on a yearly-or-so basis. Discuss with your doctor what your risk factors are, and between the two of you, you may opt to skip the Pap.

It is possible but highly unlikely, genetics may have a play on it.
The theory is that most cervical cancer is caused by the human papiloma virus, the only way to get it is through sexual activity. Especially with unprotected sex with more than three partners.
If you are sexually active at any age you need to get checked with a pap test.
The sad thing is that if you catch it it will take years to develop into cancer, which means if u r a teen having sex ur kids will likely be teens when you develop it.

they can get cervical cancer, but since they haven't had sex, they have not been exposed to hpv, which makes women more susceptible to cervical cancer.
