I would just try to let it live, but you may want to put it in another container or tank, so if it dies it won't mess up the water chemistry of the tank.

If the jaw bone is gone then the fish is a goner. Put it in a bag of tank water and put it in the freezer and it will die a painless death. It will just slowly drop off to sleep and won't wake up. If it still has its jawbone there might be a chance, go and get some meds. Melafix or maracyn should help.

The others who gave answers probably don't even know what a fish is. First off, if your fish is very expensive read this answer, if it isnt then don't even bother reading this. If it is expensive and you love it because it follows your finger along the glass, then i have an answer. What your fish has is probably a parasite. Either its cotton mouth or fungus. Go to a petsmart or sumtin and ask for medicine. And tell an employee what his symptoms are. OK?

I'd let it live as long as it is able to eat ok.
The question is, is it infected?
If it is bacterial (the area is red and perhaps white fuzzy), you need to move him to a quarantine tank and treat with antibiotics. Maracyn plus is good.
If you do decide to put him down, here's an article on how to do it humanely. Flushing is not humane.
