If you go to a modelling agency they should not charge you for their services when you start out. eg. getting a professional photographer to take your photos for your portfolio, modelling classes, and getting a model job. If you have to pay a fee up front you are getting scammed. Look up the websites for reputable agencies such as Ford model, Elite etc. Good luck!

Most of the modeling agencies are probably scams.

The best modeing agencies that don't take your money are in New York City.

Richmond is not the "center" of the modeling industry, so don't expect to do much modeling. More than likely you will pay for your own photos, that's how the 'scam' agencies make money, by sending you to their photographer and you will not be reimbursed for the pictures.

If you want to be sure you don't get invovled with a scam modeling agency, ask your mom to call the top stores in Richmond, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales. Ask the person that answers the phone to connect you with someone to give you advice on the best modeling agencies in Richmond and what you should look for in an agency.

If you are serious about the industry, you have to be in NYC. The minimum height requirement is 5'8"
