I would like a Mac to support powerful filmaking on ocassion, however it will be primiarly used for microsoft excel, internet, and email. So what model of a Mac should I buy and where should I buy it? I bought a g3 off of eBay a few years ago and it sometimes has trouble starting up.

Also, how hard is it to run microsoft excell files on Mac that are compatible with Windows versions of the program?

Buy a Mac Mini. It only costs 499 $ and you can always spend some more in extra RAM. Got a friend that do 3D in a Mac Mini and he loves it. He started has a pc user.

About your G3. Try to format the disk and re-install the OS. Or try to make a PRAM reset. Restart your computer and press command+option+P+R until you ear 2 stating chimes, then realease. this will reset the residual memory of your Mac making it to work faster.

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=14FBC7C5&nclm=CertifiedMac would be a good place to start. They sell certified pre-owned Macs.

I wouldn't trust a used computer off Ebay.

I would go with at least a gig of ram, if not more. Also see if you can get one with the upgraded video card. Rumor has it (and its rumor mind you, Apple has been dragging their feet) that you will need it to run the next version of Final Cut. Although Apple isnt known to make such drastic jumps.

I can't help you with the Office questions. I dont do spreadsheets, and I use Pages for all my office type needs.

Good luck.

workplace artwork or documentation? Like what? The little help e book that incorporates them? that's completely beside the point. fireplace it up, make confident it extremely works, make confident the specs are what they claimed. that's about it.
