Is this song ok 2 have as "our song"? [Me & bf]
It is christian music, so I don't know if it was meant to be more towards God.
Tobymac- Made to love

Lyrics:
The dream is fading, now i'm staring at the door
I know its over cause me feet have hit the cold floor
Check my reflection, I aint feelin what I see
It's no mystery
Whatever happened to a passion I could live for
What became of the flame that made me feel more
And when did i forget that...

Chorus
I was made to love you
I was made to find you
I was made just for you
Made to adore you
I was made to love
And be loved by you
You were here before me
You were wating on me
And you said you'd keep me
Never would you leave me
I was made to love
and be loved by you

Verse 2
The dream's alive with my eyes opened wide
Back in the ring you've got me swinging for the grand prize
I feel the hate is spittin vapors on my dreams
But I still beleive
I'm reachin out, reachin up, reachin over
I feel a breeze cover me called Jehova
And daddy I'm on my way
Cause I was made to love...

Chorus

Bridge
Anything I would give up for you
Everything, I'd give it all away
(Repeat 3x)

I was made to love you
I was made to adore you, made just for you
(Repeat 3x)

It does make sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name (typically spelled "Jehovah" in English).

However, it seems overly casual to address the Almighty Sovereign of the Universe as "daddy" rather than as "Father". There is strong bible precedent for "Father" but no instance in which even a prophet, bible writer, apostle, or Christ himself felt worthy to use a dimunitive nickname (in Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek) for "parent". On what basis could someone take this seeming liberty today?

(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth

(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

"I'm reachin out, reachin up, reachin over
I feel a breeze cover me called Jehova
And daddy I'm on my way
Cause I was made to love..."

I think this is obviously meant to be a song sung unto the Lord

Personally? I think you should ditch it.

Sure maybe it's a good song. But it was written for God (if not go for it, but check it out and make sure) and when you use it in the context of a human love relationship, I can't help but think you're playing in hot water. I don't know check it out. I'm pretty sure it is from the line
"I feel a breeze cover me called Jehova
And daddy I'm on my way
Cause I was made to love... "

I dunno, ssing it in another context kind of perverts it's original meaning.
So instead of praising God with it, it's being used to describe your boyfriend. See what I mean?

Sure!! Why Not?? You only personalized it...(made it your own)

It is true the original meaning was most likely intended to be a Worship/Praise song towards God......but I don't think HE would mind to much if you personalize it.

Incidentally..If it still bothers you..See what you think of this song....

"Finally" by T. G. Shepherd.

I heard one time on a radio program that song was originally written as a religious song, but T G.'s people changed a few of the lyrics here and there and made it into a love song of sorts.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

If it's Christian music then it's best to go find something else. Christian music is meant for christians (duh) and usually references the religon, even if subtle. Making it "your song" wouldn't be appropriate if you meant for it to be shared with your boyfriend. Discuss a song with your boyfriend, picking one of the oldies would probably be your best bet.

Most christian songs are love songs to Christ. I personally think they should be kept for Christ.
