The human papilloma virus, has been implicated in some oral cancers.

Most men who get genital HPV do not have any symptoms. However, some types of HPV can cause genital warts. Genital warts are single or multiple growths that appear in the genital area. They may be raised, flat, or cauliflower shaped.

In men, genital warts may appear around the anus or on the penis, scrotum (testicles), groin or thighs. Even men who have never had anal sex can get warts around the anus. Warts may appear within weeks or months after sexual contact with an infected person, or not at all. A person can have the type of HPV that causes genital warts, but never develop any warts.

This is why I ask the question

Your insurance will not cover this vaccine because it has not been approved for use in males yet, but you may want to get it, in theory it can prevent infection in males just as well as it does in females, yes males do not get cervical cancer but these viruses that cause hpv, yes men can get hpv(its called genital warts), can cause penile cancer among other cancers so I personally think men should get it and eventually the clinical trials should also prove this, also you would prevent yourself from transmitting this disease to any of your partners, as for the cost factor, it does cost around $350 for the series of 3 shots you need to get the full effect so if that is an issue you may want to wait until it is approved for men and then insurance should cover it

We do not yet know if the vaccine is effective in boys or men. It is possible that vaccinating males will have health benefits for them by preventing genital warts and rare cancers, such as penile and anal cancer. It is also possible that vaccinating boys/men will have indirect health benefits for girls/women. Studies are now being done to find out if the vaccine works to prevent HPV infection and disease in males. When more information is available, this vaccine may be licensed and recommended for boys/men as well.
