I got a positive HPT tonight, I'm so excited I want to tell everyone. I couldn't get into the Doctor's until feb! I don't want to wait that long to tell my family. Is it safe to assume I'm pregnant? Should I tell my family?

OH this is the PERFECT time of year!!! You should get a tee shirt with worlds best grandma or grandpa (or something like that) on the front wrap it up and give it as Christmas gift.

I found out on my husband's birthday and gave him the HPT stick in a box and a birthday card from a child, it said happy birthday Daddy. He LOVED it!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :)

I would wait until you are certain you are pregnant. I'm sure you can go to another clinic and ask them if they can do a pregnancy test. If that is not an option retest. Get 2-3 tests and do them all at the EXACT same time. Then you should have your results, because some exams say you might be pregnant when your really not or you could be pregnant and come out with a negative result.

It is most probably positive that you are pregnant, but I would wait until after you see your doctor and actually have your first sonogram and make sure that everything is okay and normal and that there are no complications. I mean, if you cannot wait, then you cannot wait, but one always needs to be safe than sorry. And if you were to wait, you will have a picture of how the baby looks when you have the sonogram - making the news more exciting.

It is safe to think that you are pregnant. Good to get a check up and some input from a women's clinic before Feb. so that you start doing the right things early in your pregnancy. A lot of development happens in the first three months. Folic acid is one of the important things. Read all you can. You might want one more positive test before you tell your family, or you could tell them you think you are.

I had that happen to me once. I was so excited that I told the world and then the blood test came back negative. I never was able to have a child and ended up adopting two boys. My suggestion is to take one more test...even a HPT can double check the results. My doctor told me that as he gave me the bad news. IF you have TWO tests come back...then you can safely assume that you are pregnant!!!! I always wanted to know what it felt like to buy a set of booties and wrap them up and have them presented to the grandma in each house. When she opens, make sure your hubby has the camera on her....video that response. AND most of all...congratulations, Hon. *hugs* What a glorious Christmas present!!!

So much can happen during the first months of pregnancy. I know you are exited but I use to wait until I was about 4 months along. But you are you and you can tell them anytime you feel like it. Or wait a few weeks and take another HPT. Wait to tell them until you have missed 2 periods. That is a good guidline.

I know you are super excited, congrats, but i would wait til you go to the drs. Everyone is going to be asking all sorts of questions that you dont know yet, like when are you due, is everything going ok, etc. I dont see the harm in telling a few close family members but i would hold out on announcing it to the world just because you never know. I m sure everything will turn out just fine though so enjoy :) Happy holidays!

Back in the day they had the 3 month rule-I know its hard to follow but I lost two pregancies before the 3 month mark and it was super hard on me when everyone was so excited. I told no one about the 2nd time and I delt with it much better. I have a healthy 6 year old now and I waited till I was 9 weeks along with her. Goodluck.

Some women tell right away. (I mean come on it is so exciting) Others wait for a doctor's conformation. Still other women wait until the second trimester when the risk of miscarriage is much lower. You need to do what is best for you.
When you tell them, I would tell them what you just told me. Say that you missed your period, got a positive on a home pregnancy test and are confident they will be grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.

You should try to find another doctor or even go to the clinic that way you'll know for sure and then they can transfer your information to your doctor. I don't know when you should tell them hell I think I'm pregnant now and it took for something serious to happen for me to even tell my boyfriend. But I would say try a clinic and then tell the family because you know they are gonna have questions like when are you due? How far along are you? Congrats and Good Luck!
