Since I have been yellow-carded twice by the nice, friendly, lovely people who rescue puppies from storm drains and help nice elderly people (can't say women because that would be sexist) cross the street who evaluate complaints at Yahoo *sarcasm*, I will not say everything I want to say, though hopefully, my meaning will get through. The question isn't one of whether we need a black president. Provided it's the right person, of course that would be good. Of course, provided it's the right person, a woman would make a good president, or a WASP, or an Asian-American, or First Nations (I prefer the Canadian term), or lesbian, or straight, or bisexual, or any of the several hundred thousand labels that can apply to people. The question is one of finding someone with the integrity and ability to perform the duties of the job who can enhance the dignity of the office and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America. On that score, I'm not holding my breath.
The only thing raised by questions of race are (redacted to prevent a red-card).

Wow. Some of the responses show just how far from a colorless society American really is. I'm reading these responses and I'm thinking to myself, when and where is the next Klan meeting and how many of us "colored folks" will be lynched tonight. For the record, Bill Clinton is not black, not even close to black. He, like JFK and other WHITE president's cheated on his spouse. So cut the bull. A white man will NEVER represent the black community.
I hope that Obama runs, and is very successful. When you think about it, he can't do any worse then BUSH. I mean, Bush has a 4th grade education, no sensitivity for others, and no sense of whats really going on in the world. For every soldier of ours killed, the bad Arabs are reproducing 4 son's to take out our next generation.
So leave color out of it. We need a leader, not someone who will use the oval office to finish out something his daddy told him too.
And cut the color crap. You make all Americans look as stupid and inconsiderate as your president.
By the way, to the undereducated person that stated whites are the "majority", you should watch the news. The hispanics are larger then you think...

We don't need a black president because of something Bill Clinton done. And so what he had an affair with Monica Lewenski? Name a president who wasn't involved in a scandal. Some presidents hide secrets well, but in the case of Nixon and Clinton, they are prime examples of presidents who get caught being themselves. Clinton was involved in a PRIVATE matter that should have been kept that way.
Back to the president issue. Barack Obama would make an excellent president. He knows how to talk to people and tell them what they need and want to hear. He, however, isn't ready for the oval office just yet. Mabey in 2012. It is Hillary Clinton's turn to call 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue her house. But, won't they have to call Bill First Gentleman Mr. President Bill Clinton, seeing how they keep the title of Mr. President. It is time for a new era in politics in our country.

I could care less what color the presidents skin is as long as he does a good job and cares about the Unites States.I think a woman president would be awsome also but if Hillary Clinton runs i wont vote for her to save my life...voting for someone to become president just because they are different than the norm would be stupid and irresponsable...i would have voted for Colin Powel if he ever ran but Al Sharpton...not a chance.

America won't need a black president till blacks make up 65% of America's population.
I love the East Coast when we find some African-American mayors!

What's the difference if the president is black, blue or purple and gold. Do you not believe it is of more importance that the individual have intelligence, morals, values, and a sense of direction for the country?

We don't need a (insert race here) president, or a (insert gender here) president, or a (insert religion here) president. If you consider any of those when choosing a candidate please don't vote. We need an intelligent individual with integrity that will understand what needs to be done and do it even if 90% of the country doesn't like it.
