No it does not hurt, a lot of people will say it does but when you have it done you are going to be like, "That's it?" Really. Anyway there are some things to watch for seriously. Keep reminding yourself you have a new piercing because it really hurts when you forget about it and get it caught on something. Also watch for infection. The area around your belly button will get red and feel hot, don't worry yet, just keep it clean and follow the instructions you were given when you got the piercing. If it starts to become painful to touch the area and it is still red and still feels hot or begins to swell then you should see a doc. Of course the first thing they will say is take it out but ask them what you can do or take in order to leave it in. They have ways to treat for infection without taking it out. Good luck and by the way, belly button piercings are very sexy.

That first answer is bull. I got mine pierced when I was 14 and I didn't feel a thing. Just relax and close your eyes. Avoid looking at the needle or the piercing until he is done. Don't take it out for 6 months to make sure it cures good and healthy. Put SEA SALT, not idodized, but SEA SALT mixed with water on it after you wash it. wash it twice a day atleast with liquid soft soap. It should cure perfectly and beautiful like that. If you see CLEAR liquid coming out don't be alarmed, those are white blood cells.

My daughter (19), got hers pierced this summer, along with her girlfriend. They both said that it didn't hurt at all, but both of them had the piercing site get infected over and over. After 3 or 4 months of taking care of it properly and not having it get any better, they both took 'em out and let the holes close.

i had my tragus, nostril, tounge, and abdomen button pierced professionally back the early/mid 90s whilst physique piercing first began turning out to be extra mainstream. first replaced into the tummy button. my piercer numbed it with ice so i did no longer sense lots of the preliminary ask your self; even with the undeniable fact that, some hours later i felt the aching (and via finals!) next got here the tragus. this replaced into the main painful, to no longer point out you may desire to pay attention the crunch of the jewellery dealing with cartilage. my tongue replaced into next and that they pierced from the backside - up (much less nerve endings below your tongue). no longer as undesirable as you may desire to think of, yet anticipate various drooling throughout the time of the piercing and swelling for an afternoon or extra. finally the nostril: like all ask your self to the nostril, anticipate the attention on an analogous part of the nostril the place the piercing is to produce some tears. all in all, the ideal way i will describe what the certainly piercing sensation is this: style of like an extremely heat pinch. examine your physique rings shops. attempt to discover places with reliable repeat shopper organisation. take it gradual; you do no longer could desire to get a piercing that exact same day you walk in. get a feeling for what style of individual the piercer is using the fact they finally are dictating what style of adventure you will need. mine have been very friendly and maximum severely knowledgeable with piercings of their very very own... and positively convey a chum who already has something pierced for a 2d opinion and extra ethical help (and to help ensure you do no longer poultry out) - reliable success and have exciting!

It's not too bad when you get it done, but the healing process does hurt. However, I got mine done 10 years ago, haven't had any jewelry in for 4 years, and I want to get it done again and I'm a huge wuss when it comes to pain.
Make sure the place is clean, and get recommendations from friends who have had it done.
After you get it done, DO NOT use antibacterial soap to clean it-it's much too harsh. Get Liquid Neutrogena and Bactin. I used hydrogen perioxide too, but most places tell you not to do that.

I would watch out for losing your inner balance like loss of equilibrium. They won't tell you this as a caution, ever. there are so many nerves that run through that tiny area and the main one is the nerve connection to your inner ear. Check with any chiropractor or health specialist. It may look cute, but headaches and stumbling aren't.

YES it hurts, they stick a needle the size of a nail through your skin! Doesn't hurt for long though. Make sure to clean as directed to prevent infection.
