The US doesn't have an official language, but it's English in all but name.

This country was founded on an official language in 1776. Why should it change now? I am not against other languages being spoken in this country however, the primary language has been English and that is the language it should always be. For example, If I went to Mexico to live I would respect its official language of Spanish and learn to speak it because I choose to live there. It should be no different for anyone else choosing to live here in the U.S.A. In my opinion, that is a no brainer.

Yawn.

The official language of California is English. Over 200 languages are spoken in California. Many are translated for official forms.

What earthly good is an 'official language'?

No, we don't need an official language.

Most countries do have an official language, and for some of them, they have more than one official language. If I recall correctly, South Africa has about 12 official languages.

We don't need one. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

English should be adopted as the official language. Unless you want to wait 50 years or so, then we will probably adopt Spanish.

Yes it should and it should be English. It pretty much is anyway, it would end a lot of this debate on making multi language government documents. Cutting cost in anyway is good in my opinion.

I thought we had one already. When did it stop being English? We do have proper grammar and it would be "AN official"
