how come that you have to install games on PC and then play it, but on playstations and xbox and nintendo there's no need for installation?? why don't they create computer games like console games so you don't have to install it and fill the harddisk with games??

1) PC are not designed for games, but the game consoles are. Therefore, the game consoles are designed to run off the CD or DVD. The entire operating system of a game console is built to solely play games.

2) PC games are larger than consoles games and you have to install it on the hard drive. The games will play and load faster. If you want, you can run many pc games off a CD or DVD.

3) When was it the last time you saw a PC game sold on a DVD? Not many. Most of the time, it's on several CD's and the files need to be expanded and combined on the hard drive.

4) Many games require additional drivers or files to interface with other hardware in PC, therefore the files need to be installed and entries need to be written to the registry.

I don't want the game companies to create PC games like console games. PC games are so much better in graphics and gameplay. The physics and realism are getting better faster than game consoles because PC's can be upgraded and have faster processors.

the other benefit of having a game installed, not just running is the ability to patch, change and generally mess about with the game files. allowing you to add new content to a game, fix bugs, and update it whenever the developer/Modder feels like releasing a patch or game mod...i LOVE the freedom you get with a PC and the upgradeability of the platform compaired to consoles...i actually believe consoles to be a bit of a waste of money...9/10 of the time a game looks far better on the PC than it does on a console.

because you can fit alot more onto a CD if it's all compressed. With console games none of it is compressed, so they only have that DVD they can use to fill with the game content, however a PC game can contain as many CD's/DVD's it wants and just use your hard drive for the uncompressed whole of it. this usually constitutes into bigger, better, longer games on the PC then consoles. Also PC games have the ability to look much prettier depending on your PC specs.

PCs have hard drives, which transfer data faster than CDs, and so at least a certain portion of the program get installed.

Consoles don't usually have hard drives (although this is changing) and usually would just play direct from disk. It also minimizes piracy, a key concern of console game makers.

i like my laptop the most. its portable and more convenient. although some games on PS3 and xbox 360 = fantastic, the PC can play a wider variety of games be it online or offline games. i find that playing fps games on a computer using the mouse to move the camera is alot easier than using a remote control.
