It is all a matter of taste. There is no qualifying measure of what constitutes a "Best Hard Rock" band. However, if you want to use the yard stick of album sold worldwide by a Hard Rock band
it is AC/DC "Back in Black", at 40 million copies.
Of course, no sale as top Michael Jackson's "Thriller" up to date, 100 million copies!!!!

As much as I want to say Mettalica, I have to go with the philosophy of saying that the best bands are those who endure the test of time. Mettalica has it's place in history, but Led Zeppelin would be my pick for the simple fact that after all these years they still show how they set the standard for Heavy Metal and their music still endures even in this generation and probably will for many centuries after Mettalica has gone down in it's fan base.

Not according to me, but history shows the greatest hard rock band to be the Rolling Stones, gotta love mick,baby!

I don't know where you draw your line between metal and hard rock is, but Lamb of God is awsome, Metallica is totally rad, Pantera is a super hard band....................I like alot of the older groups too.
