For those who have served, how long were you out of this country?
Clearly, "...will you enlist?", is meant for military age, "healthy", supporters.

Please READ the question. If you support it, then answer; if you want to. I am not asking for justification(s) for your support.

I supported it at first. I supported the concept of overthrowing Saddam and still do. But, the direction the war has taken due to the lack and complete failure of leadership from our current administration has led me to the point where no-i no longer support the war. I support the soldiers, i wish them the best but the overall mission - well the whole gameplan just seems so screwed up i dont know how to support it. Too many negatives, too much contraversy. We dont even have a clear cut image of exactly who or what the enemy is. How can we win when parts the new Iraqi government we helped to set up is in bed with the insurgency we are fighting? I do not see how we can win when the gameplan is just simple catch phrases like Stay The Course and New Way Foward.
No i never served. Too old now. If i could go back in time would i? Maybe so.

I lost what faith and support i had for this war after the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. It has nothing to do with the torture of prisoners to me, its the fact of how the higher ups in the military and at the Pentagon shifted the blame down to the lowest guys they could. How guys like Rumsfeld and his pals who knew this stuff was going on and approved of it lied like sh*t eating dogs to save there own butts and let a bunch of enlisted soldiers take the blame and go to prison over it. How can anyone support a leadership that sends YOUR kids - American soldiers to prison over their dirty deeds?

Actually, you have asked a geat question. No-one should support a war who is not ready and willing to make the sacrifices necessary to win the war.
I am a 50 something year old grandmother, so I cannot go to fight. My sons are already there.
I would be willing to sacrifice.
I do support the war and the President. I believe that now that we are involved in the war, we must all make the sacrifices necessary to WIN the war.

I think that John Kerry should enlist. He supported the war, oh, and so did Hillary Clinton. I think most of congress did. Polls from the time also suggest that an overwhelming majority of American also supported it. I don't the the military wants all of us...

I was prior service and did the first go around in '91. They actually turned me away when I tried to go back in 2001, said I was out too long (got out in 94) and to let the younger crowd handle it.

If our great soldiers in Iraq were not taking the war to the terrorists then YOU would not need to go over seas to fight they would bring the war here in OUR front yards. Do you believe it is just a coincident that we have not been attacked on U.S. soil since we began attacking them in the middle east.
