I like both, but when I want to "recharge my batteries" I like to be by myself, watching tv or something.

Uhh, you're not exactly presenting your question to a broad cross-section of society here. It goes without saying that most of the people on this site - especially on a Friday night - are the type of people who probably prefer to be alone! Myself included. Yes, I like to hang with friends sometimes too, but more often than not, I spend my time on the Internet, reading books or watching a little TV. I often prefer to spend time in my own head rather than with others. I'm not anti-social or anything, I'm just very comfortable being by and with myself. And I suspect that is the case for a great many of the people here on this site.

I was quite shy as a child, but I have completely overcome that and become perfectly comfortable and confident in social environments. However, I find random socialization to be unfulfilling; it can be hard to relate to other people when they see things so differently and don't share my interests.

To me, gossip, talking about celebrities and sports, and the other things the average person makes smalltalk about are the height of boredom. I'd probably enjoy socializing a whole lot more if I could find more people who enjoy debating ideas; even in college this was a rarity. Also, people tend to be rather unforgiving of responding "differently" in social situations. I do not pick up on social cues as much as most people do.

I am an introvert, so I usually prefer solitude. There is nothing wrong with being an introvert, however many younger introverts are often thought to be socially incompetent. This is not the case. There is no indication that introverts are unable to be just as socially active as their extroverted counterparts. It has even been found that introverts can become extroverts.

It all depends. Back when i was in high school, I was a loner. But I guess even now days I don't have too many people I hang with. I get used a lot, so I prefer a small amount of people.

I like being by myself. I live on a farm not to far from town but far enough. When I want to be around people I go shopping at Wal-Mart. I meet everyone there. It's nice.

I'm by myself- even when I'm with others, really. I have adapted to doing things and going places alone- I prefer it that way. Sometimes I want to move-on and sometimes I want to stay- when with others I'd have to compromise or change my plans.

I feel it's determined a lot by your age. At this time of my life, am a lot more comfortable and happy to be more than half of the time, by myself.
