I personally do. I know they are just words but they feel hateful and negative and that is just not needed in today's world. We have enough negativity don't you guys think? I feel cussing, especially the F word, should be eliminated forever along with the N word which I find disgusting.

My mother cussed around us all of the time, like it was part of the normal language. We picked it up out of habit. Unless I consciously make myself aware of everything I'm saying before I say it, then sometimes a cuss word slips through. It's not because I'm being hateful or negative, it's just a word to me that's still part of the habit I got from my mother.

She never used derogatory terms like the "n" word when talking about people, just those other nasty words.

I'm not sure it shows weak character as much as a lack of imagination. I agree with you. I am a nurse in a prison and the correctional officers curse worse than the inmates. I hear it so often that every now and then it creeps into my vocabulary, which I hate to admit.

Another thing I hate is the word "suck"- as in "That sucks." When did that enter the lexicon?

Congratulations! I applaud you for "moving forward" having identified the negativity that comes from swearing and cussing. I've been there and moved forward. Because only the least civilised, the uneducated and the weak in character use profanities to express themselves.

Ya i agree with you on this one. I know plenty of people who swear when they are in a sticky situation, or other people who swear all the time, but didn't until they started to hang with a certain group of friends.

Cussing is just a substitute for a lack of confidience, i think that the people cant find a way to express their own feelings w/o getting embarrassed, so they get frustraited and decide to swear instead

It's a little aggrivating at times, especially when my child is around....but I do not believe it shows weak character. I happen to think that slang shows weaker character than cussing. It's just a matter of opinion............

The sad thing is that someone will think that by answering your question with a bunch of curse words they will seem clever. I curse like a sailor but still you are entitled to your opionon.

Some people use profanity because their vocabulary bank is low or they are not intelligent enough to realize that profanity says alot about them as a person because they just disrespect themselves when they talk like that. To me they seem to have no sense of self-worth.

I think it shows a poor upbringing. No one ever cursed in my home growing up and I find it hard to utter a curse word. As to character, I don't know.
