The stuff since 1900. Well if your asking who invented wrestling period then you could go back to the ancient Greeks or other ancient cultures who played wrestling competitively for sport. As for pro wrestling and how it became fake, you can trace that all the way back to the civil war when troops on both sides used to werstle on there down time to entertain themselves. After the war, carnivals and circuses would start going around with wrestling shows, they'd even have events where they'd take on all comers. Eventually in the early 20th century promoters started getting territories together and would have legitimate sporting events. Eventually though people became board and they started to loose interest. So promoters decided to start jazzing things up a bit they'd take a legitimate skillful wrestler, have him be champion and then have him throw matches against an underdog or crowd favourite to draw interest knowing that he could then win the championship back again. To the public though this still appeared as a legitimate aporting contest. A&E did a decent documentary a few years ago called "The Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling," that chroncaled the history of pro wrestling although it was rather inacurate when it came to WWE history. There is also a book published by wrestling legend Lou Thez called "Hooker" which also chronicals wrestling progression. I'd also recommend that you read the biography of Stu Hart called "Lord Of The Ring." It chronicals the life of wrestling legend Stu Hart who made the transition from legitimate amateur wrestler who was training for the olympics before the start of WW2 to working scripted story lines in territories and eventualy running his own promotion. Before he was "bought out" so to speak by Vince McMahon. I hope that helps.

Nobody "invented" WWE. The only thing the McMahons did was make it what it is today. Wrestling is all traced back to ancient times.
Basically, though, it goes like this: Jess McMahon created the CWC, and joined NWA in 1953. Then, Vince Sr. took over, and CWC broke away from NWA in in 1963, and became the WWWF. In '79, they became the WWF, Vince Jr. took over, and the rest is history.

Vince McMahan Sr. Vinces dad, back when his dad started the business it was originally called the World Wide Wrestling Federation, when his son Vince Jr. who's running it now, droped the Wide, and changed it to the World Wrestling Federation, and then a few years ago the World Wildlife Fund had a big cow about the WWF sharing the same initials so they changed the name to World Wrestling Entertainment.

That would be Vince Mc Mahon. He formed the WWF ,World Wrestling Federation. Several years ago they were forced ( by court order), to drop to drop the use of WWF as the World Wildlife Fund had "ownership" of those initials.
So they quickly launched "get the F out and became WWE!!
Vince's family has been involved in wrestling for two generations, and he just capitalized on the family legacy.
Before Vince, wrestling had been more of a regional enterprise with different individual promoter/owners organizing and selling the product in separate ares of the US.
Vince bought them all out and made the WWE/WWF a national entity.
