i had a girl friend many years ago who loved her cat, loved her new coat, loved her new car, loved the color pink and she loved me.

If the words "i love you" come from the heart and soul of the person speaking then it can never be said enough, however if the person speaking is just saying the words (say to gain favor or other) then it is most certainly abused. to be certain that the person using the phrase is sincere then ask them "What Did You Say?!" and usually if it is from the heart and soul then they have no problem repeating "I LOVE YOU" .
