Well I have two computers, and one is a laptop. So I wanted to rip a movie and have it saved into the laptop so I don't have to carry the movie and lost it. What program can I use for it? Anything free? or by Windows Media Player? links?
thank you.

Most commercial dvds have copy protection built-in to prevent copy. To rip a movie you'll need an app that can break the protection first. All you need is 3 apps : Dvdshrink, dvd decrypter and RipIt4Me. Go to the RipIt4Me website here http://www.ripit4me.org/ >>>>>>read the guide and faqs before doing anything else. The program is super easy to use, with the One-click option it will do everything for you except burning the dvd.

Most DVDs have built-in copy protection, meaning you can't easily make a copy of the movie. doom9.org specializes in software packages (mostly free) that will 'unlock' a DVD and allow you to convert it to a smaller format (such as AVI).

i use DVD Shrink

and you put the cd in, open it, then you click - Re - author, and find the biggest file, drag that into the box next to it, and then click back up and let it go =)

that should work
