This is unusual. My laptop connects perfectly to my wireless network at the office, using a D-Link. I am trying to set up a wireless network at home, and have tried 2 routers - a Trennet and a Linksys. Each says I have connected to the internet with a "good" connection, but nothing comes across on the screen.

When I connect the DSL modem directly to the computer, it works perfectly.

It pings on direct modem connect, does not ping on wireless connect.

Something is interfering somewhere on my try to set up a home network

Any ideas? Can I set yo the modem (192.168.1.1) manually?

Your ISP is probably using an authentication scheme that uses the MAC address of the initial hardware contact to serve as the password for your account and log in. What you need to do is port into the router and clone the MAC address. Refer to your user manual for instructions, or go to the manufacturer's website and click on "support".
