plastic is easier to carry...paper more environmentally friendly..but plastic os more recyclable...you can use it for a trash can liner..or to wrap them dirty baby diapers...or yuckky garbage tied up tight to avoid smell...those who are crafty can cut them into strips and crochet an awesome rug to wipe your muddy feet on. alot of stores have recycling boxes to bring your old ones to. I also keep a few in trunk to reuse for shopping so i dont waste more...also even paper ones are good for reuse remember book covers!! LOL or decorate for a gift bag! so i like both....

my wife always insists on having both.. she wants the paper bag inside of the plastic bag.. I always give the cashier an apologetic look when my wife makes them do that.. especially if we have a lot of groceries.. apparently that's how they always do it where she's from, but around here they think she's just being a b*tch..

If you're talking about bags, I say paper. I know they're not the most durable but they're biodegradable which is always good.

paper, it is better for the environment, you can make a vest for thanksgiving out of it and it ripens your fruit quickly
