My 1987 Chevy Custom Deluxe has vent windows and the knob that holds them closed is very loose and lets alot of noise and air come through. How do I tighten the knobs so that they hold the windows in tighter?

take and put a penny underneath the mechanism before you latch it, thats the old way to fix it if you don't want to repair it properly.

Tightening may not help because this is a common wear issue with the latch mechanism. Have a Chevy dealer order a new latch assembly for you and have a trusted handyman install it, if you can't figure it out. Labor rates are too high at the dealer, but if you want it done fast and right and can afford it, use the dealer.

They don't really tighten, normally they get replaced.
A cheaper alternative is vent window locks. If the url below doesn't load correctly, just go to JCWhitney.com and enter part number ZX156410Y They're pretty much universal fit.
