Spray around the yard with straight ammonia, in the evening just before dark. Armadillos are nocturnal and they don't like strong odors. You can also use a spray made from a tea of Cayenne, but ammonia is cheap and convenient.

I am going to keep track of these answers, only recently have we begun to see the little buggers this far north, mid-America 38th parallel.
Most unfortunately we see them on the highway, traveling.
Probable cause is global warming.
PS. If you can find 5 lbs of cayenne pepper cheap enough to buy, let me know where.
It's about 3 to 4 dollars for 3 oz bottle here.

go to a store that sells bulk kitchen supplies, get a 5 pound can of cayenne pepper, 5 pounds of black pepper, mix together and sprinkle generously on your lawn just before dark, within two days they will be gone for good, as will any and all other pests, just keep your pets away from this area for awhile the peppers do a right nasty job on thier tongues.
