Poetry is a very very difficult way to make a living, but if it's your true life ambition, then you'll have to be strong enough to accept criticism from the public, and really review your poems and try to understand why they don't find them appealing. And also don't let people's opinions dictate the way you life. If you are crying in bed and falling behind in your studies just because nobody seems to like your best poem, then maybe you have problems in your life which you haven't dealt with, and now is the time to deal with them.

I understand how it feels to be crushed over something you've created. I am a writer, and an artist, and I know that when you create something, you give it a piece of yourself. So, when it is criticized, it hurts you too. To a writer, every word written is a part of themselves. Remember, never give up. So many artists and writers were laughed at in the beginning, and they are classics now. You know, it really dosen't matter what others think. If you like your poem, if it is real to you, then don't let the opinions of others get in your way. Also, it isn't stupid to get upset over something like this, regection is hard to take. Just don't give up, and don't give in, don't let this experience keep you from your dreams. You are successful as long as you try. Let this be a learning experience, instead of a reason to be depressed. Let this make you stronger. Don't give up because of this, tell yourself not to. You are truly the only person who can help yourself out of this. Poets lead lonely lives, at times, even if they are surrounded by friends, because we look at the world differently that other people do. Maybe they just don't understand your poem. Keep on writing!

Don't listen to anyone here. A huge part of a poem is how it is read and you can't deliever that in Answeres. Don't worry if no one liked it, keep working on it and keep revising and revising and keep writing. So maybe it wasn't your best poem but if you keep writing they'll be others and you'll get better and better. Keep writing and never give up, if you set your mind to something you can achieve it and don't let what anyone says get you down.
Besides, so what if you're no meant to be a poet, there are so many other careers out there that have to do with writing and poetry. Don't give up and keep writing!!

So you're giving up after a bad review?!?! If every writer did that there would be no pieces of literary genius. You have to believe in what you write and ignore the critics. Get back at the books and write what you believe and keep posting it. Not everyone will like everything your write but what you believe in will find followers. Good luck.

I have no sympathy for you. Guess what? There are people who will always hate your writing. If you can't handle rejection, don't write. Rejection is the writer's way of living. Get a little thicker skin, and if you do suck, do something about it. Learn from others, read more poetry, anything. Don't just sit there and cry. Did you know Dr. Suess's first book was rejected by 28 publishers? Did he give up? No. Should you? I don't know. Yes... if you can't handle it.. because, borrowing the words of Anais Nin, 'our culture has no use for it'.

Don't be crushed!
I think it's brave as heck for you to put your poem up, I rarely ever let people see my poems back when I was writing.
I've noticed that lots of Yahoo Answerers are mean, or they're just going after points and say something quick without thinking.
Dust yourself off, get back on that poetry horse and keep writing! Poems are personal, and it takes a lot of creativity to write them and a lot more to edit them. Keep going!

Here, lets do this the easy way- you get a 360 page, leave access on Answers and invite friends to read poems on your page. There are some poets on 360, you won't be alone.

Don't listen to other people unless they are your peers. If you really want to write poems write! No one should stop you from attaining your dreams ever. Join a writers workshop they will look at your work with care and help you get better .
Look at criticism and then look at your work objectively and see if you think what they say is true see if you can make it better. If you can you have learned how to improve and accept criticism.
If what was said to you was hurtful screw them forget it and move on.

Don't let anyone ever steal your dreams.
That being said, what makes you think that the people who
didn't like your poem know anything about poetry.
We all need critics. The criticism tells us we are on the right
track. If you don't have at least one critic, your headed in the
direction.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.
Thank you very much, while you're up!!!

What's done is done. It's over. No need to destroy your future by wasting your time crying about your past. There is a saying in Russian "There is no point in beating a dead horse" No matter how much you beat it it won't get up and run.
This lady puts it nicely, about the criticizm that you get for your poetry on the internet:
